tonight brings the broadcast of the academy awards, which I doubt I will be watching (carnivale is on). However I am rooting for Ntalie Portman. I havent seen the movie she is nominated for, and based on her other efforts don't think she is much of an actress, but I have met her on a few occasions. So I want to be able to say that I met an academy award winner. Go Natalie ;)

I just discovered that if you key in my full name and "amtrak" into yahoo my web page comes up! I feel so accomplished. I have always wanted to have a web reaction to my name! haha. So far if you do the same on Google, it will only bring up my recent Newsday editorial. Now I need to work on getting it to be the first hit for a variety of other keywords. Sigh. So much wasted effort for vanity... :)

Today I have been filled with a tremendous amount of joy and excitment and happiness and hope. I don't know why. I haven't really done anything. I can't point to one person or one act of significance (even the yahoo keyword incident!!) that has resulted in being bathed with joy. It's such a breathtaking feeling!!! So here I am. joy! :)

So no Natalie. Well, at least she did get to present an award and I got to think to myself "wow, I once helped her find a Tool CD".
I particularly liked the new method of announcing winners in the aisle, right next to where they are sitting. Cause nothing says "we don't give a crap about your "short" movie" like not even letting you walk up to the stage. Oh the humanity.
ALmost as good as that was the cinematographer from the Aviator who got up on stage and dedicated the award to his mother and the docs and nurses helping her. thank you. cue the music. and the music they picked... the theme song from Terminator 3. ARGHHH
